Dear YouTube,
I'm extremely displeased with the new player page. I'll give you a few examples below, but in general it's all negative changes.
I find the layout of the "Related Videos" extremely inconvenient. Why should I have to scroll away from the video I'm watching to choose the next video to watch? I find them harder to read, as well. Did you decrease the font size?
The fact that new videos from channels to which I am subscribed are automatically put into a playlist and set to autoplay and repeat is extremely frustrating. I'm subscribed to a number of channels and I don't often want to watch all of them at once, and certainly not in an order as pseudo-random as upload date. The 'Recommended' videos doing the same thing is even more ludicrous. What purpose does it serve?
The fact that voting on or replying to a comment forces me to carefully mouse-over them and click a button without moving vertically (risking taking action on the wrong comment) would be frustrating for many people. However, I don't use Firefox, IE, Safari, Chrome et al. I use a keyboard-controlled browser (Conkeror, but I imagine that Vimperator users would feel similarly), and this makes it infinitely harder to deal with YouTube. The fact that the text area stole focus from the browser upon submitting the comment was annoying enough... Thank you for reducing accessibility.
Your further obfuscation of the actual video files is an interesting move, as well. I license all of my 100%-self-made videos CC-BY-SA, so I liked the fact that there were several tools that allowed people to obtain them from a well-known source, but I guess each video will need to have a link to Archive.org. Very unfortunate that I need to take up their servers' space with my content.
Sadly, it seems I cannot opt-out of this. I disliked the changes to the channel page. It was simple and clean, now it's twitchy and bloated. Confusing at best. I learned to live with it, though. This is the bale of hay that broke the camel's back, though.
Solving feature-creep by cutting other basic features and options... Did you hire GNOME "usability 'experts' "?
If these problems are not solved inside of a week, I'll feel obligated to find a different site to host my content. I'd be willing to pay for something better.
Sincerely,
Ƶ

Gizmodo: The Gadget Guide?
This is the question I asked when they once again posted an anti-nuclear weapons editorial.
The first time was speaking out against Hiroshima. Not Nagasaki, which was totally needless, but Hiroshima. There are many opinions on that, but it is indeed arguable that Hiroshima saved more lives than it took.
This time it was just saying `look at these horrible effects of radiation! Nuclear weapons are bad!' Photos of deformed children followed, with little more content than that and intentionally touchy-feely editorial on the misuse of such things.
I asked if they really thought that people came to Gizmodo for that. I was quickly attacked, accused of being against learning from the past, accused of being heartless... Repeatedly I said that I simply felt that humanitarian editorials should be put somewhere other than a gadget blog.
I was promptly banned by the author of that article. That alone tells me that Gizmodo is not a site I'll be visiting in the future, other than to delete my account (I was banned from making comments, but I'm sure they want all the ad revenue they can get, even from people they don't want opinions from). Such things should be handled by a third party.
Perhaps my statements against the idea that dolphins are super-intelligent and the mercury content is the only argument against hunting them for food play into this. Again, just an opinion they disagree with. Ask around, I actually hold these opinions. I'm not stopping anyone from holding other opinions. I don't have the right nor the ability.
I just find it very interesting that Gizmodo bans people for ...disagreeing with them. Other people attacked me on that article, I remained civil, for the most part. I was accused of some pretty terrible things, and they did get my goat. I'll admit that, but "did baby get his feelings hurt?" isn't ban-worthy when the preceeding comment said I was worthless for wanting disturbing editorials and images not directly related to gadgets should be on another site.
My suggestion: Engadget. They actually have a much larger percentage of real tech news, and usually get updated more often and faster.
Do they use less wit in their writing? Yes, but I'm starting to think that maybe Gizmodo wasn't intentionally snarky, but more just sloppy. Many, many obvious typos and logical errors, poorly researched articles...
Engadget doesn't elaborate beyond the actual news. They do a review, they post the entirity and in great detail, and it's always well-written and professional. If they're forwarding info from other sites, they summerise, explain, and link. I can read the article they got the data from if I want details, but I can always trust them to do it right.
Also, their site's written better. Much less complicated.
UPDATE:
There's no way to delete a Gizmodo account. I hope they delete it soon, or things may get ugly.

My Transition; Part I
Hey, folks; GZeus, here.
I've decided to do alot of blogging about alot of things in 2 languages.
This first post will be in English, to be re-done in Japanese very soon. I'm unlikely to do that very often, more likely to have a 60/40 English/Japanese ratio.
I'd like to define what I mean by 'in transition.' I'm currently at a crossroads in my life. I've tried to be a salesman, laborer, a tutor, a translator, a musician and a migrating bum. My current plan is to be a 'professional student.' I begin college this fall, and I'm planning on eventually getting a PhD. in Linguistics.
Basically my only skill/talent is to learn, and I'm quite good with language, particularly on a theoretical level. This plan makes sense for me. None of the other plans made sense for me, but they made sense for the world around me.
I'm rather depressed by my current situation, but I have no plans to post about that. It may, however, colour my writing and viewpoint(yes, I tend to write in what I call 'The King's English, despite being born in, raised in, and currently living in the USA. no real reason).
As part of this change in my plans and life direction I've cut ties with many people, places, and activities that I felt were holding me back mentally, emotionally and financially. I'll be talking about my 'new' life as it develops.
Expect posts regarding computing(operating systems, programming, methodology, UI theories, Emacs, StumpWM, Conkeror et al, and how my views on these have changed over the years), language(dialect, accent, cultural effects, affects and affectations), food(my love/hate relationship with eating, restaraunts I like/dislike), and music(reviews of albums, concerts and bands, how I see culture interacting with music).
Here we go.
